What can Beeswax Food Wraps be used for?

Whilst marketed as food wraps (and that’s what the majority of our customers use them for), the only limit in use is your imagination!

Common uses in relation to food include wrapping sandwiches, covering mason jars and wrapping leftovers to keep them fresh for future consumption.

But that’s not the only way you can use these magnificent wraps!

Other creative uses include wrapping soap or shampoo bars for use on the road, keeping a deck of cards together if the box is damaged and even using them as a grip to remove jar lids!

Directions for use:

Because the wraps are made out of natural beeswax, when first opening they may appear to be slightly stiff and sticky. Simply knead into a ball and use the warmth of your hands to activate the wrap. You can then proceed to use the wraps with ease.

Wrap maintenance:

The beeswax wraps can last for up to 2 years if given a little bit of care! To increase the lifespan of the beeswax food wraps, wash in cool water and eco-friendly soap. You can use our 100% bamboo fibre cloth to wipe them down before air drying.

To air dry, you can simply drape over other drying dishes. There’s no need to wring out the wraps.

After a month or two the wraps will have become crinkled and lined but you can ‘re pasteurise’ them to freshen them up like new again. The wax will redistribute itself through the fabric. Here’s how:

Put them in the oven to re-pasteurise for up to 3 mins at 100c on greaseproof paper, when you take it out you’ll need to carefully pick it up by 2 corners while it’s still hot. Gently waft it or blow on it, to cool it down and the wax and resin will set again

What to avoid:

  • Naked flames
  • Heat
  • Not suitable for microwaving
  • Do not use on raw meat, fish or poultry
  • Don’t wrap hot food – always allow food to cool down first

Eventual disposal:

Sadly, all good things must come to an end but due to the organic nature of the wraps, they’re 100% biodegradable. Once at the end of their life, simply pop them in your composter.
